In 2020 African Digital Heritage and Andani Africa came together to develop The Open Restitution Africa Project. As a project driven by two young and women led entities based on the African Continent, the project looks to open up access to information on restitution of African material culture and human ancestors, to empower all stakeholders involved to make knowledge-based decisions.
Andani Africa was formed in 2016 out of a need to address the knowledge gap that exists in the understanding of the creative and culture industries in Africa. Andani Africa’s purpose is premised on the belief that in order to grow CCI in Africa, sophisticated ways of data collection and analysis need to be developed. Andani.Africa is currently undertaking a number of projects that seek to engage practical strategies for African museums based on data reliant insights. Our experience cuts across state and private museums, various countries in Southern Africa, and international arts institutes.
