We are delighted to be a part of Critical African Heritage Workshop (CAH) 2022 that will take place on May 19th 2022. The Critical African Heritage Workshop is a three-year Kaplan project intended to build deeper connections among Northwestern and regional peers, and to think together about how they can build sustainable collaborations across fields, institutions, and international boundaries.
The multi-year initiative is aimed at stimulating dialogue between Africa-based colleagues who work in the cultural sector, Northwestern University students, faculty, and staff, and a wide-reaching virtual audience.
The goal is to provide a space for generative, open-ended conversation that transcends categories such as intangible and tangible heritage, the bifurcation of Africa and its diasporas, and disciplinary silos.
Our director, Chao Tayiana Maina, is honored to give a presentation on “Documenting the History of Kenya’s Independence Movement Through Digital Heritage” at 18.00hrs- 19.30hrs EAT on 19/05/2022.
- Participatory heritage, public history, immersive technologies and the nuances around doing digital heritage work in an under-funded, unrecognized sector among others are some of the themes that will be covered.
