Radical Hope: Pan-African Histories and Futures Program 2023, brings together a diverse group of leading historians, activists, artists, community leaders, and more to explore Afro-diasporic legacies of transformative change.
The program runs from March 1st to April 26th 2023. It consists of a series of dialogues, presentations, and workshops that invite participants to honor and engage with how Afro-diasporic people have sustained themselves and their communities through paradigm-shifting, life-altering events.
Chao Tayiana, Founder of African Digital Heritage, joins the program on March 22nd, 5:00pm – 7:00pm GMT to speak on Empathy as resistance in history practice. Her session looks at the place of empathy within the excavation and exploration of afro-diasporic histories. It challenges the notion that historical practice should be objective and demonstrates how emotion/empathy is an essential and revolutionary component when seeking to transform our understanding of Afro-diasporic pasts.
