Strathmore Law School – Heritage and Resource Management webinar

/

We’re pleased to be taking part in the heritage and resource management for sustainable development webinar that will be hosted by the Strathmore Law School in conjunction with the International Law Association’s Committee.

The webinar will be taking place on Wednesday 7th July 2021, from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm EAT.

Our founder, Chao Maina, will be taking part in the webinar as a panelist where she will be speaking on best practices in heritage and resource management for sustainable development.

“When we talk about sustainable development we’re looking at preserving what we have now for future generations but at the same time finding a way to make this relevant and holistic to those of us in the present. If we view cultural heritage  as the intrinsic expression of the ways of living developed by a community and passed on from generation to generation this includes customs, practices, places, objects, artistic expressions and values. We see that cultural heritage is inextricably linked to both our present and our future.”

The webinar seeks to examine efforts, initiatives and good practices in the protection and preservation of cultural heritage in Africa. It is expected that the webinar will enhance the knowledge on the role of culture and heritage as a tool for directing policy and private decisions and behavior that promotes holistic approaches to sustainable development.
